The kids are back in school and the large Summer crowds have all gone home. This is our favorite time of the year, we call it the Secret Season.
November and December just might be the best time to visit Biloxi and the rest of Mississippi's Gulf Coast. The hot temperatures and major storms of the past several months are in the rear-view mirror, and the average highs this time of the year are in the upper 60s & lower 70's. The long lines from the summer crowds are gone too, making this Southern tourist destination an especially nice place to visit during this secret season.
Outdoors enthusiasts love staying with us at Margaritaville Resort and then heading out to one of our outstanding golf courses during the cooler weather this time of year. Some of the more popular ones include Bay Breeze Golf Course, where wind and water play significant factors, Dogwood Hills Golf Course, a well-kept secret, and Sunkist Country Club, a legendary course that was established in 1953.
Meanwhile, many like to take advantage of this temperate weather by going out on a deep-sea fishing charter. Most charter companies offer trips of varying lengths as well as ones appropriate for small as well as large groups.
Another water-based activity to consider are the Ship Island Excursions.
Do you also want to enjoy some indoor activities during your time on the Gulf Coast? Check out the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art. It is dedicated to the beautiful ceramics of Mississippi artist George E. Ohr. This museum is conveniently located less than a mile, about a 15-minute walk, from us. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
One more popular place that many arts enthusiasts visit while here is the Walter Anderson Museum of Art.
People visiting with children 10 years old or younger often make it a point to head to the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center. Young ones enjoy taking advantage of its many hands-on activities, and parents will love a place that keeps their children entertained and happy for hours. This attraction is also open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
Train enthusiasts of all ages also enjoy making trips to the Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum.
If you visit between Thanksgiving and Christmas, make sure to enjoy the Gulfport Harbor Lights Winter Festival. Attractions include beautiful Christmas lights and opportunities to visit with Santa Claus, experience fun rides and live music and drink hot chocolate. This attraction is open from 5 to 9 p.m.
