The Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon as isn't your average 26.2 mile race. Rather, this event is a weekend festival celebrating the joy of running.
The fun starts Friday December 8 at 11 a.m. at the Mississippi Coast Convention Center where the Mississippi Gulf Coast Expo will be open for business. This health and fitness expo is free and open to the public until 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Featured exhibitors include sponsors of running gear, nutritional snacks, and upcoming races. Participants can pick up race packets, and late registrants can sign up as well at the expo.
First race takes off Saturday at 8 a.m. with Mississippi Gulf Coast 5K and the Kids Marathon beginning at 9:30 a.m. Starting point for both races is Point Cadet Plaza, Biloxi, MS.
On Sunday, the whistle blows at 7 a.m. sharp for the half marathon and full marathon alike. The half marathon begins at Jones Park, Gulfport, MS, and the full-marathon begins at Henderson Point, Pass Christian, MS.
Both the half-marathoners and full marathon runners will benefit from cool coastal breezes as they run along the shore of the Gulf Coast. And for those committed to loftier marathon goals, the full marathon is a USATF Certified Boston Qualifier route.
Looking for a little something extra to get the blood pumping? Why not double down? Run the 5K on Saturday and either the half or full marathon on Sunday and receive a double down seafood tray great for serving up fresh seafood.
After the hard work, it'll be time to celebrate with food and fun at the Coors Light Finish Fest. Located at MGM Park and open from eight a.m. to two p.m., this is where the food, music and fun will happen. Vendors will serve up local seafood and southern barbeque of which runners will get six free tastes.
If you're going to be in Biloxi for the weekend of December 8th-10th, lace up your shoes and come join the fun!
